Rowkeep keeps your place in a PDF knitting or crochet pattern: add the pattern, drag the line to the row you are on, and count.
Tap Add a pattern and choose a PDF from Files, iCloud Drive, or wherever your designer's file is saved. Rowkeep copies the file into the app and never changes your original.
Drag the green line to the row you are working. The arrows in the bottom bar nudge it a small step at a time. The line stays on the same place on the page when you zoom or scroll.
Tap + to count a row and − to go back one. Undo reverses the last change, whichever direction it was.
No. Rowkeep works entirely offline and saves your place on the device as you go. Closing the app, or the app being closed by iOS, does not lose your position.
Open a project and tap the share icon to export a backup file containing the pattern and your progress. On another device, tap the restore icon on the main screen and choose that file.
Rowkeep refuses files that are not PDFs, PDFs that are damaged, and PDFs locked with a password. If a pattern you own will not open, email it to us and we will look at it.

Parts. A project can hold several parts — a body and two sleeves, say — all worked from the same PDF. Each part remembers its own page, line, row count, repeat and note. Open the "…" menu and choose Parts to add, rename, switch or delete one. A project always keeps at least one part.
Locking the line. Once you drag the line onto a row it locks itself, so a stray thumb cannot move your place. The button at the top right of the pattern toggles it. Locking the line does not lock the pattern: scrolling, pinch-zoom and rotation carry on working. The up and down arrows in the bottom bar still nudge the line while it is locked, because pressing them is deliberate.
Repeats. If a section repeats, open "…" then Repeat and enter how many rows are in one repeat, and optionally how many times you will work it. The bar then reads something like "Repeat 3 of 6 · Row 4 of 8" and rolls over on its own. Undo steps back across a repeat boundary correctly. Turning a repeat off leaves your row count untouched.
Rowkeep does not read your pattern. You tell it what the repeat is; it does the counting.
Checkpoints. Before a tricky section, open "…" then Checkpoints and tap "Save where I am". If you have to rip back, tap Restore: Rowkeep shows you where you are now and where restoring would put you, asks first, and offers one Undo straight afterwards. Checkpoints travel inside your exported backups.
Checkpoints and backups protect your progress inside the app. They are not a backup of your phone, and they cannot recover anything if the device is lost — keep exported backups somewhere you can reach them.
